B’rucheem
Habaeem, Welcome back for a wonderful and productive learning year. I
hope that everyone had a restful, relaxing, and a safe summer. If you
haven’t already filled out your registration forms, please
remember to send them in at your earliest convenience.
We
have been busy at The Religious School planning for this current year.
I have been fortunate enough to have some volunteers working with me at
The School. Stream Rashbaum, Hannah and Hunter Goldsmith and David
Eskin have been wonderful helpers, and have filled their community
service hours while continuing to help out at the Temple.
It’s so wonderful to see our young people offering their
assistance doing various tasks around the synagogue during their summer
vacation.
Our
first day of Religious School will begin on Sunday, September 7, 2008
at 9:30 am. The first day of midweek Religious Education Classes will
begin on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 5:00 pm. Confirmation Classes
will begin at 5:30 pm.
We
will be engaging in a new program called, “Parent Involvement
Day.” This will be held on every third Sunday of every other
month. Our first session will be on Sunday, September 21, 2008. Parents
are encouraged to attend the morning with their child/ren and
participate in the lesson for that day.
Our
first “Tot Shabbat” will be held on Saturday,
September 13, 2008 at 10:30 am. Rabbi Barras will be working with the
children and Amy Shinbaum will be doing a special art project for Rosh
Hashanah while the children enjoy a healthy snack. This is a wonderful
opportunity forthe children to interact with each other at their own
specialized Shabbat service.
Our
first “Junior Congregation” will be held on
Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 9:00 am. This is a mandatory program.
All students in grades 4th through 7th must attend at least seven
services throughout the year. This is a great way for our students to
become acquainted with the Saturday morning Shabbat service.
This is also a beneficial way for the students to better prepare for
their Bar/Bat Mitzvah.
Our
newest program this coming year is “Temple Beth El Mommy and
Me.” Donna Rivera and I will be the instructors for
youngsters 16 months to 2-1/2 years old. This will begin on Monday,
September 8, 2008 at 10:30-11:30 am. We are so excited about bringing
this program to all of you!! Our schedule will be on Monday mornings
from 10:30-11:30 am. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate

As
you can see, we have a variety of programs that will begin in
September! I look forward to seeing all of you all fresh and energized
for the new school year!
