Mitzvah Bank
Temple Beth El Mitzvah Bank
Times are tough. Many families in our immediate community are struggling to meet basic monthly obligations while many of us have much more then we really need. The TBE Mitzvah Bank was created to provide those in need with a wide variety of goods and services while preserving the dignity of the receiver. The goal is to establish a bank, which will be available to all congregants as well as to increase anonymous tzedakah and activism within the congregation.
Please consider depositing gift cards, cash or any skills or services you have for someone in need to withdraw. Some examples are grocery gift cards, cards for children’s school clothing and supplies, gasoline gift cards, cash cards, meal preparation, minor home repair and maintenance, auto repair, medical and legal services.
Rabbi Akiva taught us to “love your fellow man as yourself.” Love is an action verb. By taking action and donating your surplus goods and services you actually become the recipient. By easing the financial burden of a stressed family, you have the joy of bringing more meaning into your life and the pleasure of knowing your love for another made a difference for a family in our Temple community.
To make a deposit or if you are in need of a withdrawal from the TBE Mitzvah Bank, please call or email Rabbi Barras for a confidential exchange.
