President’s Message
It’s hard to believe that I have completed my first year as President of TBE. A year ago I thought what on earth was I thinking taking on the task of President. I still ask that very question just not as often as I once had. The answers become clearer after every challenge I face and fear I conquer. I have been blessed and honored to serve as your President. Yes, there have been ups and downs and several challenges along the way. Starting with an IRS audit, the implementation of changing the fiscal year, adhering to policies and facing yet another financial deficit. Through all of these challenges came enlightenment and happiness. I have conquered my fear of the microphone and speaking from the bimah. I had the incredible experience of two mikvahs, several bar/bat mitzvahs and a beautiful wedding. There have been the less enjoyable and fullfilling events such as funerals of those congregational members who TBE and I hold close to our hearts to finding innovative ways to paying our bills. Even through the unpleasantries we prevail with a sense of peace and spirituality. I have grown to work through adversity and challenging decisions and for this I thank the leadership and guidance of the Board of Directors and Rabbi Barras. Yes we face serious financial challenges in the upcoming months but we are strong and when we pull together we make things possible. You will be receiving a letter from me in the near future. Please do not disregard it but consider what we have at TBE and answer with how can I help.
My message is short this month but I am asking you to keep TBE in mind and don’t ‘let you spiritual home be forgotten. I look forward to another year of growth both personally and within the congregation of TBE. Have a safe and fun-filled summer and I will be looking for you on Friday nights.
Shalom, Karen
